I relocated from southern California after 25 years to my hometown of Minneapolis in 2007 starting my life over following a personal life-changing event.
Starting my life over personally was hard – starting my business over in a new state with no clients and no business connections, was even harder.
Maybe you’ve experienced starting over sometime in your life too and so you can relate to the fear and uncertainty it can bring. I admit I did spend some months complaining about the bad hand I was dealt and then one day I made the choice to get busy and make my own opportunities!
I knew I needed a way to connect with other professionals in this new business community and so I turned to LinkedIn.
In 2007 LinkedIn had only been around 4 years and there were 8,000,000 members worldwide. Those I connected with were excited to meet me as I shared my story and asked each new person I met who did they think I should meet? It was amazing how many people wanted to help and made introductions for me.
I was able to build a network of people that led to conversations and opportunities and I went on to build a successful business not only locally but nationally by learning to ask better questions and add value first to those people I connect with along the way.
Following my own personal success in making new connections, building brand awareness, and driving leads I started sharing my unique perspectives along with simply empowering YOU to build a brand worth following.
