LinkedIn Trends for 2025

Ready to supercharge your business growth? Whether you’re a seasoned marketer or just starting out, these tips and LinkedIn trends for 2025 to grow your business will provide a fresh perspective on how to effectively use LinkedIn to grow your business, expand your reach, generate leads, and ultimately, boost your bottom line.

1. Optimize Your LinkedIn Profile

Optimizing your profile should not be a trend, but an ongoing business strategy. Your LinkedIn profile is your 24/7 online resource and a powerful tool for attracting potential clients and partners, it is never one and done.

In fact, updating your profile resets your positioning with the algorithm and lets LinkedIn know something is new and thus they let your network know by increasing your visibility in a search. The areas of key importance to LinkedIn’s algorithm include: your title, profile picture, About section, Experience title, and skills.

Use a current headshot, a business-specific header image which is a giant billboard for advertising your business, a recognizable title followed by a compelling headline.
Your About section highlights your expertise which lets people know what makes you credible and why you are an ideal choice to do business with. This section should also include problems you solve, services, and how people can work with you, which is your call to action.

I’ve written many articles and social posts and taught workshops on optimizing your LinkedIn profile. Business owners, don’t settle for ‘good enough’ competition is too high not to stand out!

2. Build Strong Relationships

Building relationships is key to success on LinkedIn and not just collecting connections! Successful professionals who leverage LinkedIn understand the difference between relationships and contacts.
By building meaningful relationships, you can increase your visibility, generate leads, and collaborate with other professionals.

Be strategic with those people you connect with. Your first-degree connections are the people most likely to see your posts, next are the people who “Follow’ you versus connect with you if you have the “Follow’ button turned on.

  • Write down the ideal profile of people you want to do business with, people who have referred business to you, and those people who know you well and you would consider advocates or champions of your work.
  • Prioritize the relationships you want to invest in!
Nurture these key relationships by commenting on their posts, offering to make introductions, provide them unsolicited referrals, send them information you think they would find interesting and useful without expectation and make a commitment to have conversations with your key relationships.

Know the relationships you will invest time and effort in because this is where the opportunities come from and where you build an excellent customer experience.. As David Nour, author of “Relationship Economics” has said, “Stop looking for the EASY BUTTON.

Things like AI and Spam bots take away the humanness of the relationship and people see right through that today.

Stop looking for the EASY BUTTON.

How will you focus on your best relationships in 2025?

The majority of my business comes from referrals from the relationships I have and continue to nurture and grow. Second, I show up consistently, so I continue to earn trust from both my close relationships and the network of thoughtful connections I have made.

3. Share High-Quality Content

Share valuable content on LinkedIn, such as newsletters, variety of informative post styles including videos. This can help establish you as a thought leader and expert in your industry and attract potential clients.

Develop a well thought-out content strategy. This should include:

  • Content that speaks to your ideal client, will the reader resonate with your posts?
  • Know the problems your client comes to you for – incorporate that into your content.
  • Learn how to write effective posts. Copywriting skills can be your best skill.
  • Be consistent with a posting schedule, I recommend at a minimum twice a week.
  • Let go of salesy pitch type of posts.
  • Use real images first versus stock photography

2025 LinkedIn Trend: Authentic Connection

Show your humanity by being authentic and real, seems like something I shouldn’t have to mention but between AI and automation (spam bots), last year those tools overshadowed authenticity.

  • Raw and real content: Users crave genuine voices. Sharing personal stories, struggles, and behind-the-scenes glimpses builds trust.
  • Humor with a professional touch: Lighthearted content that’s relatable (think work-life balance memes) cuts through the noise and makes brands more approachable.
  • Why it matters: In a digital world, human connection is key. Authenticity builds stronger relationships, leading to better engagement and business outcomes.

4. Leverage LinkedIn Ads

LinkedIn advertising can be a powerful tool for reaching a targeted audience. Create compelling ad campaigns to generate leads, drive website traffic, and promote your brand. Consider using LinkedIn’s Sponsored Content and Sponsored InMail options.

LinkedIn ads can be very effective because of the targeting features. You can hyper target your ad to show it to very specific people and locations:

  • Job Title
  • Location (city & state)
  • Specific companies
  • Skills
  • Years of experience
  • And more!

5. Elevate your visibility with a LinkedIn Newsletter, Posting & Hosting Events

Newsletter

All LinkedIn members have the ability to create a newsletter about their expertise and interests. If you are already producing a newsletter, repurposing it to LinkedIn is a great way to reach people who may not be on your email list.

When you invite a new connection to your network and they accept, they receive an invitation to subscribe to your newsletter!

You need to carefully think through the details before jumping in, the most important in my opinion is can you commit and be consistent? I post my newsletter bi-weekly which works for me.

You want a descriptive name and subhead so that immediately people know what your newsletter will be about.

Newsletters can be short, easy to scan, and include images to make it visually interesting. Always end with a call to action.

LinkedIn Events

LinkedIn Events are an easy way to create and join professional events such as online workshops, seminars, and more. LinkedIn members can find and join communities, grow their business, network with others, and learn new skills.

Two Types of LinkedIn events:

LinkedIn Live

Events are streamed on LinkedIn, with real-time conversations in the comments and a recording on your Page or profile. To create a live event, the organizer must have access to LinkedIn Live and to a third-party streaming tool.

LinkedIn Audio

Audio events are real-time, audio-only conversations without video, screen sharing, or text chat. Attendees can join the speakers on stage making Audio events the most interactive event type.

CONCLUSION

The last word for LinkedIn trends for 2025 is engagement

Social media engagement is a continuing trend and crucial for building meaningful relationships with your audience, which in turn drives conversions. By actively interacting with your followers through comments, shares, and direct messages, you foster a sense of community and loyalty.

This ongoing dialogue creates a foundation of trust and rapport, making your audience more receptive to your message and ultimately increasing the likelihood of them becoming customers or advocates for your brand.

If your target audience is active on LinkedIn, a well-crafted marketing strategy can be a powerful tool for business growth.
